Septimius Cecchini, the father of the current owner, arrived in the Medoc with the 1940 exodus. He became later the owner of Château La Hourcade, He was both winemaker and postman at the beginning and was the head of a family of 8 children. His son Gino took over the estate in 1967. He had the opportunity to buy some surroundings parcels up to 4 hectares in 1986. In those days, he also served in the French cavalry, and had to juggle the tasks of both activities. Today the property covers 18 hectares of vines. Until the 1987 vintage, he sold the production to the local cooperative. In 1988, he decided to leave the cooperative and to be in control of his distribution. He bought nearby plots gradually to expand the property and devoted himself to his two passions, wine and horses.
